Digital incunabula: a CHS site devoted to the cultivation of digital arts and letters

"We are at the earliest stages of learning how to produce scholarly publications in digital form: just as early printed works (incunabula) mix habits from the world of manuscripts with original experiments, authors of digital incunabula in the early twenty-first century are still struggling to develop appropriate methods and materials for work in a radically new medium -- digital arts for working with digital letters. This site presents work at CHS on the design of digital publications for use in a distributed network of other digital publications. Its primary focus at this stage is not on material for end users, but on the basic infrastructure needed for this new kind of publication."
