A Review of Precise Measurements of the Pyramids: A Brief Historical Context

"This review discusses the precise surveys of the Egyptian pyramids of Gizeh conducted since the 19th Century. The historical context of the survey work focuses on the equipment and methods used by Sir William M. Flinders Petrie between 1880 and 1882. Some comparisons are made between the results of Petrie’s survey and the results of J.H. Cole’s survey in 1925. Different survey and mapping approaches show how improved measurement technology applied to this historical recording application have resulted in increased spatial accuracy, thereby better defining these ancient structures."
